The majority of tarantulas are easy to keep and do not require constant attention or daily feedings. Tarantulas only need to be fed every few days with slings (babies) be more frequent.

Tarantulas are readily available by the majority of local petshops and breeders , and most species are inexpensive to purchase.

A 2020 study found that over 195 different tarantula species were listed for sale between 2015 and 2016 by online sellers and physical pet stores in South Africa .Researchers also visited 122 pet shops across all provinces and confirmed that tarantulas were available in nearly all of them .

Tarantulas make no noise , and don't produce odours like some other pets do , making them the perfect companion when living in a apartment or small space.
